Bennett Graff

I am passionate about the unique challenges of applying design to extreme and complex contexts (space exploration, medicine, and scientific applications). I enjoy working with others to create work and solve problems that they are passionate about.

I hold a BFA in Industrial Design from Brigham Young University. During my undergrad work, I was a Crocker Innovation Fellow, a NASA Space Grant Fellow,  attended Dutch Design Week, and participated in the Bench to Bedside Medical Innovation program.

I am drawn to the intersection of design and engineering. I received an MA in Design Engineering from Brown University & RISD’s MADE program. My areas of study included: design for extreme environments & space systems, as well as design teaching. I worked as a research assistant in Brown Design Workshop on sustainable prototyping. I was a part of the RISD team for the NASA SUITS (Spacesuit User Interface Technologies for Students), funded by a Rhode Island Space Grant.

Currently, I am pursuing an MFA in Industrial Design at Parsons School of Design at The New School, where I am continuing to deepen my practice and expand my prototyping range.

When I’m not designing, you’ll find me: voraciously consuming audiobooks & podcasts, painting astronauts, exploring museums with my wife, doing wildlife photography, joining in conservation-related citizen science, and cultivating exotic plants.
